No início, em melodias mais calmas, a bela voz de Olivia Merilahti se apresenta. Entre o tom neutro e feminino e o sussurro agudo, é o vocal da franco-finlandesa que traz o charme do álbumSlippery Slope, da dupla The Do, que logo escapa da possibilidade de ser chamado de “fofo” ou “bonitinho”. É que depois de uma entrada leve, o álbum mostra outro ponto forte: as melodias recheadas de elementos, sem repetições de fórmulas, que sustentam e fazem Olivia se “esforçar” ainda mais em sua cantoria.
A sequência a partir da terceira faixa, com The Calendar, que começa brincando e vai ganhando seriedade, Smash Them All (Night Visitors) e Gonna Be Sick é quando você pode dizer com certeza: “poxa, que disco bom”. É bom porque repete a fórmula do primeiro álbum, A Mouthful, de 2008, que é a fórmula de ser coeso sem ser chato, de experimentar sem exageros, com peso e suavidade.
Chama a atenção também o cuidado na produção de cada canção. Ao longo de cada música existem pelo menos três ou quatro climas diferentes que vão se misturando com clareza, explorando cada instrumento na medida certa. O piano aparece agudo e divertido ou grave e nebuloso, a percussão traz batidas dançantes ou criam ritmos quase-tribais. A música se transforma ao longo dela mesma, assim como a voz de Olivia, que consegue ser arrastada ou ágil, dependendo da necessidade da canção.
